Date: 16th of April
Time: 12.00 – 16.00
Location: Dramshusens Skur at Bryggen
Museum Vest invites you to a number of traditional activities by Dramshusens skur. Use all your senses when you explore Bergen’s historic role as a maritime city. Taste the stockfish, build your own boat, and make a rope the way it’s been done for generations.
The whole family may participate for free and experience some of the traditions that make Bergen a maritime city. Try pounding stockfish to get tasty pieces. Learn about how the stockfish has had influence around the world and how it was sorted, transported and traded.
Try a real ropewalk and twist fibres into rope. Ropewalks can still be seen in Bergen, but Museum Vest provides a unique opportunity to try ropemaking with help from our communicators/mediators. Learn also about sustainable use of natural fibres for ropes.
Build your own small wooden boat with a string-propeller in our open workshop, see if it can float and bring it home. Our talented mediators ensure there’ll be cosy activities for the whole family at Dramshusen skur.
