Is Øygarden the only municipality in Norway where we do not need untouched nature? Do we want to be remembered as those who wasted the nature of Øygarden? Is nature and enviromental management in the municipalities a "home-alone party"?

On the 16th of April 2024, Berekraftsveko in Øygarden organizes a debate on the loss of nature and natural diversity in Øygarden and Norway in general. In 2024, NRK has updated the challenges of ever greater development and loss of nature in Norway. The background for the debate is the natural loss we have experienced in Øygarden over the past 50 years, as well as the construction of Sotrasambandet, to the potential construction of nuclear power plants. In addition, there has been a report from the Natural Risk Committee stating that the state must come up with clearer guidelines in order to keep the municipalities on their toes regarding the development issue. It may appear that there is a conflict between national conservation strategies and local development wishes.

The debate is chaired by Harald Victor Hove.

In the panel we find:

  • Alfred Jens Bjørlo - Storting representative for Venstre
  • Roy-Eddy Lie - Property manager at Liegruppen AS
  • Andreas Ormevik - Head of Miljøpartiet de grønne in Øygarden
  • Lene Kristin Hansen - Deputy head of the Naturvernforbundet in Øygarden,
  • Inger Måren - Professor University of Bergen & UNESCO Chair on Sustainable Heritage and Environmental Management
  • Ruben Oddekalv - Head of Norges Miljøvernforbund
  • Lisbeth Selstø - Prosjektleiar Øygarden kommune
  • Kari-Anne Landro - Vest Næringsråd
