- By coming to One Ocean Week, the Minister of Fisheries is following up on last year's clear message from the Prime Minister "that Bergen is the country's ocean capital, and the work we do is on behalf of the nation," says County Mayor and Chairman of One Ocean, Bergen Norway, Jon Askeland.

Governing Mayor of Bergen, Christine Meyer, looks forward to One Ocean Week and welcomes the minister.

- We are delighted to welcome the Norwegian government's Minister of Fisheries and Oceans to One Ocean Week in April. She is responsible for national policy on everything from aquaculture and seafood to research and innovation, as well as coastal management and maritime transport. We look forward to a good dialog between the Minister and all the stakeholders here in the ocean capital of Western Norway.

The sum of all good forces

Askeland points to all the innovation and value creation that takes place in Vestland county. From the county border in the north towards Møre og Romsdal and all the way through Innlandet, Buskerud and Telemark to Rogaland, all of which border Vestland. He also believes it's a point that there isn't a single municipality in the county that doesn't have access to the sea.

- Norway as an ocean nation is the sum of all good forces, and Vestland county is in a class of its own when it comes to marine research, coastal management and business," says Askeland.

One Ocean Week takes place April 13-19.

- We look forward to receiving a visit from the Minister of Fisheries Cecilie Myrseth in April during One Ocean Week," concludes Askeland.
